Agustin Gomez Magallon

ROCHELLE – Agustin Gomez Magallon, age 68, of Rochelle and formerly of the state of Oregon, passed away on Tuesday August 1, 2017. Born in Michoacan, Mexico on April 29, 1949 to Agustin & Alvina Magallon (Gomez). Agustin worked for many years as a migrant agriculturalist moving from town to town. He also worked at sea on a fishing vessel in his younger years. He always told the tale of the infamous turtle, who came to his rescue when he was lost at sea. Bitten in the eye the turtle left his mark, but truly saved his life. Most important in his life was his family; beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ofelia Magallon (Losoya); children, Fernando Magallon, Veronica Bailey, Agustin Magallon Jr., Angelica (Silvestre) Chavez and Angelo (Frank) Russo; grandchildren, Vanessa, Maritssa, Rosalena, Angelique, Angelica, Antonia, Arianna, Athan, Alex, Jovany, Agustin Jr., Serenity and Lillith; great-grandson, Sebastian; siblings, Maria DeRosario, Rosalina Johnson, Esequiel (Karen) Magallon, Naty (Marielena) Magallon and Gloria Magallon; dear friends, Tim (Jan) Brown, LaNette & Gabriel Johnston ; and beloved dog, Bella. He is predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Maria Del Refugio and Sylvia Magallon.

Memorial Mass to be held on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at 5:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 903 N Caron Road, Rochelle. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
