ROCKFORD - Alan "Al" F. Nicosia, age 57, of Rockford passed away of a drug overdose on Friday, July 13, 2018. Born in Rockford November 15, 1960 to Rosario & Antoinette (Cuppini) Nicosia. Al was a beloved, outgoing man, often smiling and whistling. He had many talents: cooking, making Italian cookies, sugo & meatballs, and many other great dishes he shared. He loved sports, especially watching NFL, Golf, NBA and MLB. Al was from a close knit family. He loved his mom and inherited many of her wonderful traits. Al loved gardening, planting herbs, and he would often put beautiful flowers by Jesus and Mary outside.
Sadly, he was a drug addict and tried to kick the habit numerous times. Even in rehab, he touched the lives of many people. Anyone reading this, please take heed of the dangers of drugs. To all who are users; we urge you to contemplate on changing your life and seeking help before it's too late. May God help all of us.
Al is survived by his beloved siblings: sister Ami; brothers, Joe (Sandy) and Ross; beloved nephew, Nick; beloved niece, Mandy; beloved aunts, Sara (Frank) Martorana and Rose Virgili; numerous cousins and special friends. Predeceased by his parents; and dearest friend, Kim Clausen. You will forever be etched in our hearts. May Eternal Rest be granted unto Alan, O Lord, and May Perpetual Light Shine upon him, and May Alan's soul and all the souls of the Faithful Departed, Rest in Peace. Amen.
