Alberta K. Hansen (Pumilia)

ROCKFORD - Alberta Katherine Hansen (Pumilia), age 87, of Rockford peacefully passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 in her home at 7:23 pm surrounded by the love of her closest friends and family. Born in Rockford on December 27, 1938 to Alexander & Rose Pumilia (Mauro). Alberta was a devoted Catholic who loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but she was so much more than that. She was a beautiful soul who devoted her life to her wonderful daughter and best friend, Nicole, and to her grandchildren, who admired her as their hero and best friend. They will forever carry with them the same love, comfort, and peace they always felt in her presence. She was a warm hug and a fierce defender, proudly protecting the people she loved. She danced every chance she could, and when her legs could no longer carry her, her daughter’s never failed her. Nicole and Alberta continued to dance together in their living room, creating memories that will forever be cherished. With the love and constant support of her family, Alberta courageously fought for eight years against the devastating disease of dementia. Alberta’s love, strength, laughter, and dancing spirit will live on through every person fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Nicole (fiancé Lyllya Ellis) Hansen; sister, Mary Jane Pumilia-Thompson; niece, Michele (Christopher) Lindstedt; grandchildren, Daniel, Denise, Elijah, Natalie, Destiny, Alex, Nicholas and Anthony Hansen; great-grandchild, Ja’havi; and her devoted furry companion, Johnny. She is predeceased by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Paudua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, with Visitation from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
