Barbara C. Ekstrom

MESA, AZ - Barbara C. Ekstrom, age 69, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Rockford, IL passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Mayfair Assisted Living Home. Born February 28, 1951 in Rockford, the daughter of Frank and Goldie (Griswold) Roos.  Barb was married to Dennis L. Ekstrom on August 21, 1971 in Rockford and spent her days as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Barbara was a woman of great creativity and talent. She could see the beauty in ordinary things and create new purposes for them. Her crafting and artistic eye were amazing. Barb loved glitter fiercely which was seen on most things she owned or created. She loved games, puzzles, cooking, Christmas and just hanging out with her loved ones. She will be missed and forever in our hearts.

Barb is survived by her two children, Christopher (Lisa) Ekstrom and Michele (Sean) Temple; grandchildren, Brandon, Ava, Ean, Sophie and Gavin; brother, Brad (Sue) Roos; and many beloved extended family. She is predeceased by her parents Frank & Goldie Roos; and granddaughter, Alice.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Friday May 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Avenue, Rockford. Cremation rites accorded. Inurnment at Willwood Burial Park, Rockford. Memorials to the family.
