ROCKFORD - Carl A. "Bud" Gothann, age 79, passed away peacefully Friday April 3, 2020. Bud was born April 8, 1940 in Illinois to the late Ed and Rose Gothann. He knew at 8 years old that he wanted to build houses and spent most of his life doing so. He was a Freemason from the early age of 15. Bud served his country honorably in the US Army and loved to travel the world. He opened his stained-glass store in the 80's in Wausau, WI where he made beautiful stained glass. He taught his daughters the beauty of stained glass and continued his passion until his death. He moved to Arizona in the 90's and recently retired from the US Coast Guard with 17 years of service. At one point, he was the most active Coast Guard Auxiliary coxswain in Arizona and one of the most active in the nation. Prior to retirement he served as Division Captain for the 10 th Division (AZ and southern UT) for the Coastguard Auxiliary.
He leaves behind his son, Michael; loving daughters, Diane (Jay), Katie (Mark); brother, Ken; 8 grand-children, Mia, Dominic, Diamond, Desirae, Delilah, Daija, Marcos and Alexis; 3 great-grand-children, Jayden, Jaxson and Everett. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Deborah Zolp. He will be missed immensely. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois; and brother, Ed.
Services are Private. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
