ROCKFORD – Carson "Jack" Gipson Jr., age 77, of Rockford and formerly of Jonesboro, AR passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday December 24, 2019. Born in Cloverbend, AR on July 26, 1942 to Carson & Jessie Maye Gipson (Ervin). He worked as tool repairer & forge stamper for over 23 years. Jack had great integrity and a strong faith in Christ Jesus; serving as a greeter & usher at City First Church for many years. He had a great love for his family & friends and many hobbies & natural abilities. Together Jack & Shirley loved to travel the country. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend; he will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by the love of his life and beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Gipson (Dobbs); daughters, Angela (Brad) Smith, Pamela (Mike) Johnson and Valerie (Mike) Stone; sisters, Virginia James and Mary Rogers; step-siblings, Willis Ward, Ronnie Ward and Linda (late Downun) Madar; grandchildren, Melissa Hicks, Theresa Hightower, Chelcy Boss, Russell Stone, Matt Stone, Nate Stone, Sean Smith; and several great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sisters, Betty Williams and Jessie Ellen Neymer; and his parents.
Celebration of Life Memorial held Monday December 30, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Kishwaukee Community Presbyterian Church, 8195 Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley, IL, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Rev Ben Carter & Chaplain Joe Militello officiating and music provided by Greg Adcock & Kathy Owen. Private interment at New Milford Cemetery. Pallbearers: Russell Stone, Matt Stone, Ethan Neubauer, Justin Nimtz, Brad Smith and Mike Stone. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
