Cynthia Ann Frye

ROCKFORD - Cynthia Ann Frye (Mosiman), age 77, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Born in Rockford, IL on August 4, 1948 to Eldon & Gracie Mosiman.

She studied at Western University before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University in 1970. Cindi worked as an elementary school teacher before becoming a devoted stay-at-home mother and raising seven beautiful children with Denny Smith of Park Ridge, Illinois. Denny is now married to Christine Smith. In recent years, Cindi and Christine became good friends, bonding over their shared love of their family. Years later, Cindi married Dean Frye, and together they shared 18 wonderful years of marriage.

Cindi enjoyed spending time with her children and many grandchildren. She also had a deep love for Jesus, horses, music, gardening, and birds. She was known for her unwavering faith in God and for encouraging others through prayer and Scripture.

She is survived by her sister, Sherry Schmidt; her seven children and their families: Julie Ross (Robert Ross) and their children, Miles Ross, Quentin Ross, and Amelia Ross; Caroline Carter (Andrew Carter), and Caroline’s children, Kaden Welter (Olivia Rodimel) and their children (Cindi’s great-grandchildren), Loren Welter and Eldon Welter, and Callum Welter, as well as Andrew’s children, Carly Carter, Cora Carter, and Daxx Carter; Joshua Smith (Dorota Smith) and their children, Henry Smith, Rosalind Smith, and Marigold Smith; Jordan Smith (Marci Smith); Catherine Giddens (Mark Giddens) and their children, Beckette Giddens, Adelaide Giddens, and Merrick Giddens; Laura Sandberg (Matt Sandberg) and their children, Axel Sandberg and Lucille Sandberg; and Josiah Smith (Maddie Smith).

She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Mosiman; her mother, Gracie Mosiman; her brother, Steve Mosiman; and her sister-in-law, Delores (“Dee”) Mosiman.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 4 pm - 6 pm at the Christensen Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford. Funeral Services will take place Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Grace Family Church, 3202 Pleasant Valley Blvd. Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment at Byron Cemetery, Byron, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations of any amount to help with funeral expenses as they honor Cindi’s memory.

Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find peace in knowing that Cindi is now in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith carried her throughout her life, and we rejoice in the promise that she is now healed, at peace, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and steadfast faith will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
