Darrel E. Collins

ROCKFORD – Darrel Edward Collins, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 9, 2017. Born in Shelbyville, IL on December 29, 1931 to Armon & Gladys Collins (Stokes). Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by children, Rich (Mary Jo) Collins and Kathy (Alan) Held; daughter-in-law, Terri Collins; siblings, Maynard (Lorene) Stivers, Ronald (Mary) Stivers, Lynn (Karla) Stivers, Jerry (Sue) Stivers, Nick (Sabine) Stivers; b rother-in-law, John "Bud" Wiltfang; and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Virginia M. Collins; father, Armon Collins; mother, Gladys (Harry) Stivers; son, Dan Collins; and brother, Perry Stivers.

A Celebration of Life Memorial to be held on Saturday September 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM, at River Bluff Nursing Home, 4401 N. Main St., Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Bluff Nursing Home in his honor. A heartfelt Thank You to all of the staff at River Bluff Nursing Home for the exceptional love and care he received. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
