PECATONICA – With heavy hearts, we announce that Debora Ann Gulbrandsen, age 73, of Pecatonica passed away peacefully surrounded by family Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born October 19, 1951 in Clinton, IA to Edward Eugene & Lois Elizabeth Calhoun (Lindsey). Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, friend, and a pillar of the Pecatonica community. Deb's life was a testament to kindness, service, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved.

A devoted educator, Deb spent her years shaping young minds, offering guidance and encouragement to every student who walked through her classroom door. Teaching was not just her profession—it was her calling, and her impact will live on in the countless lives she touched.

Beyond the classroom, Deb's compassion extended into every facet of her life. She served on the board of the Pecatonica Library, dedicating her time to ensuring that books, resources, and the joy of reading were accessible to the entire community. As a volunteer EMT, she selflessly answered the call to serve her neighbors in their times of greatest need. Whether providing medical assistance, a comforting presence, or simply a warm smile, Deb embodied the true spirit of community and care.

Family was the heart of Deb's world. She filled her home with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. She cherished every moment spent with her family—whether gathered around the dinner table, playing with her grandchildren, or simply sharing quiet moments of love and connection.

Deb leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry her in their hearts. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Gulbrandsen; her cherished children, Erik (Corey) Gulbrandsen and Anna (Tucker) Blaser; and her adored grandchildren, Ewan, Arlo, Corgan and Kiedis, who were her greatest joy. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Sharon Thayer, Patricia Farland, Ronald Calhoun, and Sara Powell; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness.

To know Deb was to know generosity and a spirit that never wavered in the face of challenges. Her legacy of love and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine through the lives she has touched.
