Donald Martin Horst

ROCKFORD – Donald Martin Horst, age 67, of Rockford and formerly of Chicago passed away Thursday January 25, 2024. Born on April 8, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Godfrey & Edwina Horst (Merowski). A devoted Pink Floyd enthusiast, Don enjoyed attending concerts & live music events and laughing with the comedy of the Three Stooges. A fond storyteller extraordinaire, he loved sharing his captivating tales. His legacy lives on through the stories he shared and the joy he brought to those who listened. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by life long friend & wife, Lorrie A. Horst (Kemppainen); children, Brian (Christina), Rencie (Raymon) Ruiz, Nathan, Aaron, Kyle (Sandra) & Jasmine (fiancé Cory); grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Delilah, Jordan, Matteo, Jylene, Juvia, Keilani, Keira, Trinity, Aaliyah and Kyandra; many great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews and cousins; and many dear friends. He is predeceased by his daughter, Jessica Layne Horst; brothers, David & Dan; and his parents.
