Donald A. Topper

DURAND - Donald A. Topper, age 82, of Durand and formerly of Elgin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday December 25, 2021 following an 18 month battle with Dementia. Born July 2, 1939 in Chicago to Olaf Albert & Hilda Topper (Mathisen). Donald married the love of his life, Faye Ebert in Chicago on Feb 23, 1961. They shared 60 years of marriage together. Don will be missed for his beautiful smile, amusing stories, free spirit and love of animals. He enjoyed the great outdoors, planting flowers and especially loved watching Du-Pec football games. A proud grandpa, he adored his grandkids and attended all their events and cherished spending time with his family. Don served many years on the Kane County Mounted Patrol and truly loved his Mounted Patrol horse: Poncho. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Faye Topper (Ebert); children, Lisa Diedrich, Monique (Mark) Leman and Andre (Kerri) Topper; grandchildren, Kevin & Kristi Smith, Corey, Kyle & Carson Leman and Jake & Jesse Topper; great grandson, Oli Vandy; sister, Evelyn Skipper; and many dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents; and beloved horse, Pancho.

A private Celebration of Life Memorial to be held at a later date. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Alzheimer's Association - www.alz.org
