Edgar Ernest Veitch

ROCKFORD – Edgar Ernest Veitch, age 85, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Thursday, May 8, 2025. Born in Rockford on January 7, 1940 to Veo & Ada Veitch (Wysong). An avid hunter and fisherman, Ed loved playing cards and winning big at the poker table. A cherished family man, his true pride and joy was definitely spoiling his grand & great grandchildren any chance he could. Beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Debra L. Veitch (Bull); children, Lillian Smith and John Woodford; adopted son, Joe Weeks; grandchildren, Honesty Woodford, Taylor, Edgar & Donelle Smith, Andrew & Alex Rogers, Kyra & Holly Sparks and Alexis Williams; great grandchildren, Adyen, True, Bryson, Kaydin and Luciana; siblings, Gary ( ) Veitch, John (late Jackie) Veitch, Cindy Veitch and David (Diane) Veitch; sister-in-law, Betty Veitch; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Bill Collins. He is predeceased by his daughter, Maria Rogers; brothers, Jimmy, Tuffy, Billy & Lawrence Veitch; sisters, Cathy & Gloria Veitch; and his parents.

Services are Private. Celebration of Life Memorial to be announced. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
