Ellen Marie Sholes

BYRON – Ellen Marie Sholes, age 82, of Byron passed away peacefully Sunday morning August 14, 2022. Born December 6, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Clifton & Alice (Hart) Krebs. Ellen graduated from Euclid High School and nursing school in Ohio. She moved to Melrose,Wisconsin on a farm, and every so often the families would get together and play baseball in the cow pasture. She eventually moved to Rockford, IL where she was a nurse for many years at Swedish American Hospital. After moving to Byron, Ellen worked 3rd shift at Quality Metal for many years as a buffer and part time nurse. An avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting afghan throws, house plants, Lily of the Valley, Lilacs, making taffy tarts and singing. When her children were little, she loved to sit at the bottom of the stairs and sing them to sleep. Beloved mother, grandmother and sister; she will remain forever in our hearts.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie (Craig) Jackson, Tamara (Dean) Thibedeau and Cynthia Sholes; sons, Tom Sholes and Don (Julie) Sholes; grandchildren, Michael Thibedeau "little Mike", Mike Sholes "big Mike", Maggie and Cooper Sholes; sister, Alice Buccilli; and brothers, James and John Krebs. She is predeceased by her brother, Clifton "Kip" Krebs.

Services are Private. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
