Felipe Lavariega Cabrera

ROCKFORD – Felipe Lavariega Cabrera, age 56, of Rockford and formerly of Harvard, IL passed away Monday September 23, 2024. Born in Zaachila, Mexico on August 23, 1968 toFrumencio Lavariega Leon & Eulalia Cabrera Camiro. Like his spirit animal, the Eagle, Felipe had a deep connection with nature, finding peace in the outdoors hiking, camping and sightseeing. He loved gardening and plants, inside and out and reading poetry, often putting his own poems on paper. Beloved father, son, grandpa and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by children, David (Karin) Martinez, Karla (Hector) Martinez and Mauricio Lavariega Martinez; grandchildren, Viviana, Xiomara, Levi, Solana and Damon; mother, Eulalia Cabrera Camiro; siblings, Josefa , Socorro and Manuel; and numerous nieces & nephews and cousins; mother of his children, Maria Martinez Gallegos; dear friends, Elvio and Eloy. He is predeceased by father, Frumencio Lavariega Leon; godson, Peter; and his grandparents.

Funeral Services held Saturday September 28, 2024 at 5:45 pm at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:45 pm. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
