Florencio Rivas Nunez

ROCKFORD – Florencio Rivas Nunez, age 78, of Rockford passed away Friday February 9, 2018. Born in Mexico City on November 20, 1939 to Roberto D. Nunez & Esther Rivas. He retired after 30 years of service from Chrysler Motor Company. A "Mr. Fix It" he could repair anything and everything. He loved spending time at the gym and with his beloved pets, but most of all loved spending time with his family. Dearest husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend; he was truly loved by all.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, M ª Teresa Heredia De Nunez; children, Carolina (Porfirio) Rodriguez, Ricardo M. Nunez and Esther Renee Rodriguez; step-children, Cecilia (Cesar Garcia) Mercado, Teresa (Miguel) Cortes and Frances (Victor) Valdivia; numerous grand & great grandchildren; brother, Ricardo (Rebecca) Nunez; beloved dogs, Chispita, Chiquita & Blanquita; and cat, Campanita. He is predeceased by his siblings; Rosa, Andres, Josefina, Roberto, Miguel, Jesus and Pedro; and parents.

Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday February 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Avenue, Rockford. Entombment at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday February 15, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Ave., Rockford. Memorials to the family.
