Gary Richard Dusavage

ROCKFORD – Gary Richard DuSavage, age 61, of Rockford passed away Wednesday May 17, 2017. Born December 9, 1955 in Rockford. Son of Richard & Loretta (Bursell) DuSavage. Gary was retired from the Roofers Union and worked as a roofer for 30 years at Carlson roofing. He married Debra Trenholm and had two daughters, Heather & Lisa; later in life he had another daughter, Brandi. He grew up playing baseball for Kenrock along with many family members and also coached for his daughter's teams. His father and him were avid Dodgers fans, but he also loved the Chicago Cubs. Gary was a music lover, he loved his rock n roll and concerts. He grew up playing the drums and played in many local bands with his uncle Brian Bursell, who was more like a brother to him. The two were inseparable and also "partners in crime". His very 1st concert was played at Kenrock. Gary loved Cadillacs and traveling to Washington state, where he had many friends.

He is survived by mother, Loretta Robinett; daughters, Heather (Robert) Weiss, Lisa (Martin) DuSavage, Brandi DuSavage and her sister, Samantha DuSavage; grandchildren, Cody (Janelle) DuSavage, Elyssa & Erika DuSavage; great-granddaughter, Loretta DuSavage; sisters, Robina (Butch) James and Becky Bielski; uncle, Brian (Jenn) Bursell; aunt, Jane Bursell; special cousins, Anita Tuula, Penny Fosse, Dawn McGirk, Kevin, Bobby and Derrick Bursell; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Richard; grandparents, Gus & Evelyn Bursell; uncle, Bob Bursell; three special aunts, Anita Peterson, Sydney Fosse & Roberta Hallen; and cousin, Randy Ruenger.

Funeral Services to be held Thursday May 25, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday May 24, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
