George A. Neely

ROCKFORD – George A. Neely, age 79, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born in Amboy, IL on September 25, 1946 to Harold & Miriam Neeley (Stubblefield). Beloved son, brother and dear friend, he will remain forever in our hearts.

George was a patron of the arts. He loved natural surroundings and walks on pathways. He enjoyed much time watching TV and listening to music on the radio. But most of all, he had the most exquisite palate for the Elmwood culinary arts. He ate all his food and in addition he would frequently have a rich chocolate milk and serving of Cheetos.

Favorite Memories:

"George's favorite object of entertainment when he came to Elmwood had multiple knobs, gears, flaps and shoe laces on the toy"

" He loved to play with shoelaces"

"George did not have a favorite color, he did look good in neutral browns and a collared shirt"

"George would tap his foot to all the rock-n-roll music"

"George is the first person I'd ever seen look like he was eye closed-blind and was able to get around. Other staff had to tell me he had his eyes open."

He is survived by many dear family and friends at Milestone Inc. He is predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Leland and Susan Neely.
