ROCKFORD- Gerald Millard, age 80, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Saturday January 9, 2021. Born September 4, 1940 in Harvard, IL, son of Guy & Dorothy Millard (Beavis). Gerald graduated Harvard High School in 1958 and moved to Rockford in 1965. He married Marilyn Kay Janis in Harvard, IL on September 16, 1961. Gerald was previously employed at National Lock, Pink Pony Restaurant, various nursing homes as head cook and by the State of Illinois as a Home Healthcare Worker. He volunteered for many years at the Luther Center in Rockford, until he physically could not go and had every intention of getting stronger and going back to help. Gerald devoted his life to the Church, always giving to charities and helping family & friends and even strangers; he would give the shirt off his back. Beloved father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by daughters, Terry Warne of Loveland, CO and Kimberly (Michael) Moore of Rockford, IL; sons, Timothy (Elvie) Headrick of Green Bay, WI and James G. Millard of Rockford, IL; grandsons, Tim Jr., Charlie, Michael, Cameron and Keith; granddaughters, Heidi, April, Jessica, Rachel, Hope and Erin; brother, Richard Millard of South Beloit, IL; sisters, Janice Toles of Peoria, AZ and Kathleen (Doug) Smith of South Beloit, IL; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews; special Goddaughter, Nikki; special Godson, Nicholas; dear friends, Billie Martin and Joyce Murphy; and cherished cat, Bentley. He is predeceased by his parents; children, Linda K., Hope Ann and Michael Paul; brothers, Thomas and James; and many beloved dogs & cats.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Graveside on Saturday June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Serenity Gardens at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 412 N Church St, Rockford. Reception to follow, please RSVP to Kimberly Moore at: moore4kj@gmail.com . Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
