Harold W. Roland Jr.

ROCKFORD - Harold W. Roland Jr., age 90, of Rockford passed away peacefully Tuesday January 15, 2019. Born March 23, 1928 at home in Dixon to Lucille Elizabeth (Ford) and Harold Widmer Roland Sr. Harold was a proud Veteran, serving as a cook in the US Navy. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a founding and active member of River Valley Community Church. Beloved father, grandfather and dear friend; he is loved and missed by many.


He is survived by his children, Carol Roland, Bill (Renee) Roland, Kathy (John) Ploof and Nancy Roland Douglas; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; as well as numerous nieces & nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years; Betty J. Roland; 3 sisters; 3 brothers; and his parents.


A Celebration of Life Memorial held Saturday February 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at River Valley Community Church, 5439 E. State St., Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
