Herbert Wayne Linley

ROCKFORD - Herbert Wayne Linley, age 75, of Rockford passed away peacefully Saturday September 21, 2019. Born on July 21, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to Arthur Cecil & Loreina Mae Linley (Lafferty). A proud Veteran of the United States Navy, Herbert fought the battle that started the Vietnam War aboard the USS Maddox as a gunner during the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and dear friend; he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, June Noreen Linley (Branham); children, Lisa (Randy) Tibble and Christopher (Jennifer) Linley; grandchildren, Matthew (Teresa) Tibble, Tabitha (Ryan) Fast, Miranda (Josiah Patterson) Tibble, Logan (Mea) Linley, Zachariah Linley and Emma Linley. He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur Cecil & Loreina Mae Linley.

Funeral Services held Friday September 27, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park. Memorials to the family.
