Holly M. Kuhn

WACONDA - Holly M. (Smith) Kuhn, age 62, passed away peacefully Thursday June 6, 2024. The second daughter of Gene & Jacqueline Smith, born in Des Moines, IA on May 9, 1962. Holly grew up in Hartford, IA and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1980. She participated in many activities including debate and golf, both of which she regularly practiced throughout her life.

Holly attended Drake University where she was a member of Chi Omega and served as Relays Hostess her junior year. She graduated with honors in 1984 and moved to Chicago, IL, where she had a long, successful career in insurance. In 2004, she left the working world to devote her time to her children. Holly was an active volunteer at their schools and with the PTO. She also supported local fundraisers, especially those involving golf. While she had a great love of sunshine, water, college sports and Cajun food, her greatest joy came from her children and the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Linzi) Kuhn and their daughter, Scarlett; daughter, Kerry (Lindsey) Kuhn; sisters, Lorna Smith Streeter and Heather (Wayne) Tucker. Holly was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Danny Streeter.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Saturday August 24, 2024 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Christenson Funeral Home , 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
