Isaiah Cooper

ROCKFORD – Isaiah Cooper, age 68, of Rockford departed this earthly life peacefully at home surrounded by family Thursday December 22, 2022. Born in Rockford, IL on November 14, 1954 to Isaiah & Donie Cooper Sr. (Triplett). Isaiah served briefly from '69-'70 in the US Army, then went on to work until retirement from Amphenol Antenna Solutions Inc. of Rockford. A lifelong musician, Isaiah lit up the music world with his bass guitar. He played in numerous bands and church settings, and even was said to have played with the likes of Mick Jagger in the early 80's. He practiced diligently and played for his church weekly, helping him to form and solidify his own band - Street Life. Although he was not a self-proclaimed songwriter, he wrote many deeply profound pieces that he rarely shared. Isaiah's faith, family & music was his heart. In his final days, he had no regrets and his family life was truly his greatest accomplishment. He will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Willa J. Cooper (Farr); son, Tory Cooper; step-children, Tina, Phoenecia & Stanley Hardgraves; beloved grandchildren, Tiaja, Valentino & Tori Cooper, Lanijah, Vaquela & Yamiyah Hardgraves, Martyrious Jefferson, Bishop & Tibris Harris and Janae Jeter; brothers, Larry & Shawn (Rhonda) Cooper; and sisters, Shirley Cooper, Barbara Hereford, Carolyn (Charles) Shavers and Patricia (Rodney) Stepney. He is predeceased by his parents, Isaiah & Donie Cooper Sr.; siblings, Kenneth, Michelle, Gregory, David & Gary Cooper; nephew, Kenneth Cooper Jr.; aunt, Eula Hampton; and uncle, King Wade.

Funeral Services held Friday January 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Gethsemane Christian Church, 4555 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, IL 61114, with visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 1:00 pm. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
