Jack Thurow

ROCKFORD – John Henry "Jack" Thurow, age 86, of Rockford and formerly of Winnebago passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Wednesday January 22, 2020. Born in Rockford on September 25, 1933 to Henry O.W. & Theresa M. Thurow (Leibich). A proud Veteran of The United States Army 25th Infantry, Jack enjoyed tending his garden & plants and taking care of his yard. His pride & joy was spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren, they truly meant the world to him. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty D. Thurow (Martin); daughter, Laura Thurow; grandchildren, Ashley Noto and Tyler (Michelle) Noto; great grandchildren, Jack Opsahl and Hope & Jordan Noto; sister-in-law, Sue Thurow; brother-in-law, Gene Johnson; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his son, John Thurow Jr.; grandson, Michael Thurow; sister, Elsie Johnson; brothers, Carl & William Thurow; and his parents.

Funeral Services held Wednesday January 29, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park. Memorials to the family.
