Jakari Markez Boey

Our beloved Jakari Markez Epps-Boey, age 26, of Rockford, Illinois sadly passed away on Sunday December 31, 2023.

Jakari was born July 5, 1997 to Letitia Epps & Leonard Boey in Elgin, Illinois. Long time resident of Rockford and graduate of Jefferson High School class of 2015. Loving brother and avid supporter of his siblings, a momma's boy at heart, Jakari was looking forward to moving to Georgia with his mother prior to passing. His laugh was infectious and cheeky smile, heartwarming. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family, making others laugh and playing with his children, Jakari "Jak Jak" Jr. & Kinslie Rae. He also left behind a surprise; expecting his third child with Cassie. Deeply loved by all his family and friends, he is missed terribly. Jakari left his earthly brothers to join his heavenly brothers, Myles & James; and cousin, Quintin.

Jakari is survived by his mother, Letitia Epps; father, Leonard Boey; children, Jakari Jr. and Kinslie Rae; brothers, Deonte Boey, Kimani Williams and Desmond Simon; sisters, Anaiya Epps, Brianna Truesdell, Adajah Fuller and Brielle Stoutemire; aunts, Erika Epps, Renee Anderson and Tonja Fuller; nephews, Kimani Williams Jr., Deonte Boey Jr. and Micah Reese; nieces, Sophia, Mia, Aria, Lilly, Le'yah & Aubreyella "Bella" Sanders, Audreyanna Sanders, Aaliyah Nichole and Marianna Boey; grandmothers, Carla Womack and Gayla Bean; grandfather, Lee Womack; uncles, Darrick Simon and Mark Anderson; great aunts, Ida (Larry) and Mildred (Joey); cousin, Brittany Steffensen; and our Village, Melissa, Katie, Evelyn, Tracy and the Scarim family; as well as several other cousins and long time friends turned family. Paternal survivors; grandmother, Antionette Johnson; grandfather, Lloyd Johnson; aunt, Lavorie Boey; sister, Le'nasia Boey; uncles, Corey Boey and Bakari Boey; and great uncle, Charles Boey. He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather; Robert Epps; uncle, Randall Stevens; aunt, Darla Powell; great grandmother, Delma Bertram; paternal great grandparents, Lloyd & Lue Mattie Johnson; grandmother, Martha Boey; and uncle, Michael D. Woods.

Funeral Services held Saturday January 6, 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
