James Dwight Hoglund

ROCKFORD – James Dwight Hoglund, age 83, of Rockford passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Born in Rockford on March 6, 1942 to Clifford & Irene Hoglund (Johnson). A member of Salem Lutheran Church and proud Veteran of the US Army, James loved the sounds and songs of Frank Sinatra. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and recording anything and everything on his camcorder. More recently he enjoyed long walks, feeding the ducks and watching episodes of Leave it to Beaver and The Price is Right. Beloved husband, dad, grandpa and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by daughter, Tracey (Chris Evinger) Shondel; grandchildren, Heather (Seth) Weaver, Sarah (Mario) Massi, Thomas "TJ" (Nicole Avila) Hoglund and Taz (Ian Mitchell) Mohr; great grandchildren, Gracie & Emily Weaver and Olivia & Vincent Massi; dear friend, Jim Albright; and beloved cat, Lola. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Annette M. Hoglund (Carlson); and his parents.

Funeral Services held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment with Military Honors at Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. Memorials to the family.
