BELVIDERE, IL – Jean Marie Thornberry, age 74, of Belvidere passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Born in Belvidere, IL on January 12, 1951 to Raymond & Marie Behnke (Daniels). Always putting others before herself, Jean was an avid volunteer and devoted supporter of many local organizations like Flora Grange, TOPS, Keen Age Center, Lifescape and her church. She worked for many years at the Boone County Fair and very much enjoyed her time and friendships made. She stayed active with swimming on Mondays, playing volleyball, softball and bowling, attending grandkids sporting events and not to forget lunch with the girls, Ruth, Nan, Mary, Terry, Kerry & Emily on Thursdays. In her spare time she enjoyed her beloved dogs, crafting ceramics, quilting and Diamond Art. Most of all Jean lived for her family, devoted mother and loving grandmother, spending time with her grandchildren was her true pride and joy. Loving mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, she will remain forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Marion Thornberry; daughters, Melinda (Wally) Safranek and Michelle (James) Rayphole; grandchildren, Matthew (Victoria) Safranek, Joshua Rayphole (Deanna Murry), Amanda (Timothy) Whitman, Nicole (Harley) Proper, Jordan (Katie) Safranek, Kaily (Kyle) Weber and David Rayphole; great grandchildren, Tyler, David, Aubreyanna, Launa, Karyann, Paisley, Jayce, Brandon, Emily, Elaine, Tricen and Octavia; brothers, Darryl (Sandy) Winter and Richard (Sandy) Behnke; numerous nieces and nephews; very dear friends, Ruth Blasingame and Nan Barnes. She is predeceased by her son, Michael; grandson, Tyler; infant sibling; and her parents.

Celebration of Life Memorial to be announced. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
