Jose Hernandez

ROCKFORD – Jose Hernandez, age 81, of Rockford passed away peacefully Sunday December 12, 2021. Born in Laredo, TX on November 11, 1940 to Gabino & Juana Hernandez (Sarabia). Proud of his Native American heritage, Jose loved attending Pow Wows to dance, sing, socialize and honor his culture. He enjoyed fishing, listening to the oldies and never missed a chance to test his luck at the casino. Beloved father, grandfather, brother and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by children, Gloria Hernandez, Joseph Hernandez, Sandra Hernandez, Juanita Hernandez, Abel Hernandez, John Hernandez, Priscilla Hernandez and Jane Marie Reyes; grandchildren, Vantdeseys "Deseys" Hernandez, Yvette Hernandez Ruvalcaba, Anastasia Gonzalez Hernandez, Brina Hernandez, Devante Hernandez, Kyndall Collins, Jamerist Hernandez and Ariyah Hernandez; siblings, Gabino Hernandez Jr., Manuel Hernandez, Maria Louisa Gomez, Antonio Hernandez, Jesus Hernandez, Paula Carlson, Juan Hernandez and Martin Hernandez; and dear lifelong friend, Carmen Maves. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria M. Garcia; and his parents.

Funeral Services held Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
