Joseph Daniel Simons Jr.

POPLAR GROVE – Joseph Daniel Simons Jr., age 61, of Poplar Grove passed away Sunday January 31, 2021. Born in Sacramento, CA on December 17, 1959 and raised in Folsom, CA; son of Joseph Daniel & Shirley Simons (Rose). Joseph truly enjoyed his career as an executive chef. He loved playing Fantasy Football and rooting for the Baltimore Orioles. His greatest achievement and true pride & joy was being a grandfather. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Penny Jo Simons (Harwell); children, John Sullivan, Patric Sullivan and Wendi (fiance John Rieffer) Fisher; grandchildren, Electra (RJ) Fite, Sandra Fisher, Joel Peterson and John; great grandchildren, Aiden, Audrey and Hannah; siblings, Cindi (late John) Budd, Tim (Leeanne) Simons, Mike (Stacey) Simons and Mary (Kevin) Caravalho; numerous nieces & nephews; many dear friends; and cherished pets, Moe the bird and Moket the cat. He is predeceased by his parents and grandparents.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service held Saturday February 6, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 4:00 pm. Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the family.
