Josephine Romero

ROCKFORD – Josephine Romero, age 81, of Rockford passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 9, 2018. Born in Moulton, AL on July 24, 1936 to George & Nellie Cleere (Hargett). She married Higinio Romero on March 9, 1956. She loved music, lottery tickets, shopping, movies, and crocheting. She was an avid gardener who loved her plants. She was a growing Christian and was recently baptized in Christ and anticipating being raised to a new life. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend; she will remain in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her children, Tom E. (late Deenah) Cleere, Rita (Wayne) Hampton, Alice Kilgore, Peggy S. (Antonio) Romero-Juarez, Margie A. (Jeffrey) Warren, Robert A. (Lori) Romero, Benny L. (Rosa) Romero, Michael (Diana) Romero; 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Higinio Romero; parents, 10 siblings, and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services held Monday May 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3 ^rd Ave, with visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
