Judith Ann Petit

ROCKFORD – Judith Ann Petit, age 81, of Rockford passed away peacefully Tuesday May 21, 2024. Born in Rockford on August 20, 1942 to LaVerne L. & Romona C. Meyers (Rafferty). She attended Grace Lutheran Church in Loves Park. Judy achieved 44 years of sobriety and devoted 35 years as a Substance Abuse Counselor helping those in need. An avid NASCAR enthusiast, she loved rooting for her favorite driver Dale Earnhardt. Most of all Judy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand & great grandchildren, her true pride and joy. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, she will remain forever in our hearts.

She is survived by children, Arthur Petit and Darla (late Eric) Lathrop; grandchildren, Jamie (Freddie) Cruz, Kara, Ezra & Stephanie Stickles and Scott, Justin & Ryan Petit; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray (Judy) Meyers and Fred (Patti) Meyers; sisters, Kathy (late Robert) Bergeron and Barb Meyers; sisters-in-law, Karen & Debbie Meyers; as well as numerous nieces & nephews; and many dear friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Justin Petit; son, George Petit; granddaughter, Sara Stickles; great grandson, Landon; brothers, Jim, Ronnie & Louie Meyers; and her parents.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Friday May 31, 2024 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Pastor Brent Dahlseng officiating. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
