Kenneth Brooks Barker Sr.

ROCKFORD - Kenneth Brooks Barker Sr., age 84, of Rockford passed away peacefully Tuesday January 11, 2022. Born on November 6, 1937 in Bloomington, IL, the son of Brooks and Gladys (Austin) Barker. He was a graduate of Rockford West High School and Rockford College. After 20 years together, Kenneth married the love of his life, Nancy on June 29, 2002 in Rockford. Kenneth was in the insurance business until his retirement. He was a member of Family Bible for many years where he served as an Elder. Kenneth enjoyed volunteering and serving the community. He loved helping the less fortunate. Kenneth loved spending time with family and loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Barker; children, Ramona Barker (daughter-in-law), Alan (Nicole) Barker, Elaine (Sean) Bruckner, Karen (John) Hyde, Thomas Kersey and Dawn (Luke) Davis; grandchildren, Makayla (Killian) Roberson, Nicole Barker, Kenny Grom, Olivia Barker, Douglas Barker, Danielle Barker, Luke Bruckner, Ty Bruckner, Madeline Hyde, Michael Hyde and Lauren Kersey; great grandchildren, Jillian Grom and Ava Reynolds. He is predeceased by his parents; and son, Kenneth Brooks Barker Jr.

At this time due to Covid the family members will gather privately. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
