Linda Lee Clark

ROCKFORD – Linda Lee Clark, age 76, of Rockford entered into eternal rest peacefully Sunday October 1, 2023.

She was born March 6, 1947 in Rockford, IL to the union of Emma Holden and Harold Gary living most of her life in Rockford, IL. She knew the Lord and God's Word. Linda was raised in Pilgrim Baptist Church under Dr. E.H.E Gilbert. She married Thomas Horton, who predeceased her and to this union one daughter was born, Tracey Renee Horton-Hart, who also predeceased her in July 2019.

She later had one son, Micheal E. Gary. She married Sherman Clark and he also predeceased her. She was a former member of The Next Level under the leadership of Pastor Terry Holloway, until becoming ill.

She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Michael; grandson, Elijah Horton; sisters, Dorothy Marks and Emma L. Gipson; nephews; Lionel (Elaine) Sledge, Darrell (Shonda) Sledge, Roy Purifoy Jr. and Evon J. Sams; nieces; Michelle (Fred) Bevency and Stephanie (Mark) Mathews; and a host of great and great-great nieces & nephews, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, Sherman Clark; parents; grandson, Tyrone L. Carthell; brothers, Bob, Ardis and Paul; sister, Mary; aunts, Sarah Scott, Ada Beddingfield and Lugenia Hollins; uncle, Lou Willie Cain; special cousin, Gladys Mackey; nephew, Timothy Sledge; and great-niece, Tasha.

Beloved sister and dear friend, she will remain forever in our hearts.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Saturday October 14, 2023 at 12:00 noon at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford, with Rev. John O. Sams officiating . Cremation rites accorded. Memorials to the Family.
