Linda Jean Oefelein

FREEPORT – Linda Jean Oefelein, age 63, of Freeport, IL and formerly of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully Sunday December 8, 2024. Born on December 12, 1960 in Elgin, IL and raised in Des Plaines, IL daughter of Vernon & Joan Richmeier (Brown). Linda was a caring and loving Mom and Grandmother, her family was her world and meant everything to her. She was  fun, adventurous, strong, independent, smart, kind, sweet, funny, outgoing, person. She enjoyed listening to music, being outdoors, camping, gardening, tending to her many plants. She was also very creative, good at home cooked meals, and intelligent earning her masters degree in accounting. She loved being a Mother and Grandma spending time going to different places, museums, amusement parks, beaches, zoo, vacations, with her kids and grandkids. Attended all her grandkids, plays, concerts, birthday parties Grandma was there with joy, support, and love. So many good times, happy memories we've shared through the years; she will remain forever in our hearts.

She is survived by children, Jacqueline (Jason Holby) Lighthart, Justin (Sonya) Oefelein, Rebecca Oefelein and Matthew Oefelein; grandchildren, Vega, Maggie, Kaedric, Erin, Marley, Donovan and Kaydence; siblings, Dale Richmeier, Carol (Fred) Meyer and Deanne Richmeier; dear friends, Tammy and Rob; numerous nieces & nephews; and many beloved friends. She is predeceased by her grandchildren, Autumn Oefelein & Justin Kurt Oefelein; brothers, Gary & Bruce Richmeier; former spouse and father of her children, Kurt Francis Oefelein; and her parents; .

Funeral Services held Friday December 20, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family.
