Lyons G. Meyers

BELVIDERE – Lyons G. Meyers, age 96, of Belvidere passed away peacefully Monday April 3, 2023. Born in Chicago, IL on January 31, 1927 the son of John Boyd Paul & Mary Elizabeth Meyers (Lyons). He attended Belvidere grade school and high school and left to serve his country in the US Navy, after his service he later received his GED and attended University of Illinois. He married Eleanor Prake in 1957, to whom their sons were born. Lyons was employed in restaurant management for many years and worked construction in later years. In 1983 he married Marlene Rollins (Aves). A proud member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, Lyons truly enjoyed reading, tinkering with projects and farming. He will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by sons, Josef Meyers and Paul Meyers; stepchildren, Jeffrey Rollins and Debra Arthur; 4 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Marlene Meyers; brothers, Dr. John B. Meyers Jr. and Peter Meyers; sister, Jeanne (Carl) Laurenstein; niece, Mary Beth Johnson; and his parents.

Services are Private. Interment at St. James Cemetery, Belvidere. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. James Catholic Church, 402 Church St, Belvidere, IL 61008.
