Margaret Marie (Mitchell) Huitzacua 1935—2019
Margaret Huitzacua, 83, of Rockford died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Rockford on Sunday morning, March 31, 2019. Margaret was born to Vern and Gladys Mitchell on August 25, 1935 in Benton, Illinois.
She grew up in Benton with her two brothers and two sisters: Bob, John, Jane and Mary. Margaret graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 1953, and shortly after moved to Rockford, IL with two of her close friends. Wilfrid Huitzacua met Margaret in 1954 and became the first couple to get a registered marriage license in Cook County in 1955. After marrying Wilfrid, they happily remained together for the next 64 years throughout many adventures and travels.
Margaret and Wilfrid raised a family with three children, and eventually ran a business (Wil-Tec Design) side by side. Margaret's greatest love was spending time with family for the holidays and life's special moments. Margaret enjoyed a lifetime of watching and listening to her Chicago Cubs, organizing gatherings for family and friends, and always making special treats for her family to enjoy. Margaret later in life always above all else put her grandchildren first, caring and enjoying every little portion of their lives, she loved being "Gram".
Margaret will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grammy, and great-grandmother. She will be sorely missed by her family. Margaret was a kind, gentle, caring, loving woman to everyone who knew her, especially favorite workers at her former local grocery store.
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, Wilfrid; sisters Jane & Mary, brother John, daughter Christina, son Dr. Bryan (Kathy Cockrum), grandkids Jason & Brandon Leviskas, Ashley (Mike), Dr. Austin (Leah), great-grandsons Logan & Camden. Also survived by estranged daughter Lori (Mike) Hevrin and her 3 adult children. Margaret is preceded in death by; her parents, Vern and Gladys Mitchell and brother Bob.
In lieu of a funeral Margaret decided to continue on in her giving spirit has donated her body to science in honor of her two grandsons who are active in medicine. Once her ashes are returned, family and friends will be notified of a celebration of life party and service.
