ROCKFORD - Marie M. Sundeen, age 93, Our deeply beloved mother fell into the deep sleep of death at home at 9:30 PM, August 29, 2018 following a long illness. Born on August 15, 1925 in Prairie du Chien, WI. Daughter of Vincent & Josephine (Dvorak) Kozelka. Married Clyde Sundeen in Rockford on November 25, 1943, he preceded her in death on April 4, 1991. Mom was an excellent homemaker, as well as having numerous house-cleaning jobs. She also enjoyed nature, reading, Bible-study, sewing, knitting, jigsaw & crossword puzzles and crocheting. Not least, she also taught her daughters many valuable lessons in life. One of many lessons that really stands out: Mom would send her daughters to the next door neighbor to shovel snow for him, as he had a lung ailment. She told us not to take any pay for it. If we came home with a quarter, she made us take it back. That was a lifetime lesson of helping others for the sake of helping and not just for pay! Mom gave us the most important things in life - Life and the True Light she was blessed to come in contact with after marrying Dad. Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we'll miss you, until we meet again on Resurrection Day!
She is survived by daughters, Joyce Reichhoff of Adams, WI and Eleanor Sundeen of Rockford; sister, Margaret Sutton of Florida; four grandchildren; as well as great and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents when she was a young girl and seven siblings.
Graveside service held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural St., Rockford. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
