Matthew James Van Hauen, age 37 of Rockford passed away suddenly in his home on March 12, 2017. He was born to his parents James and Peggy (Young) Van Hauen on December 2, 1979 in Sandwich, IL. Matthew was a RC Airplane and Truck enthusiast, which he greatly enjoyed with his father. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Matthew was a beloved son, nephew, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend.
He is survived by his parents, his sister Tammy (Mark) Atherton, his loved nephew Dominic Van Hauen, his grandmother Eloise Van Hauen, special childhood friends Jason Reeds & Brian Jacobs, and his beloved dog "Buddy." He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matthew was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald Van Hauen, Melvin & Eugenia (Edge) Young, Uncles Dennis Van Hauen and William Young, as well as his Aunt Janet (Young) Kearby.
A Celebration of Life Memorial to be held Friday March 17, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave. Loves Park, with Rev. Brent Dahlseng officiating. Fellowship gathering following services in the lower level of the church. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
