ROCKFORD – Milton King Sr., age 72, of Rockford departed this earthly life Saturday July 1, 2017 in his home surrounded by family. Born January 21, 1945 in Crawford, MS to Earlie & Annie King Sr. (Ash). Milton worked for 34 years at Gunite Foundry before retiring. He loved gardening, yard-work and his cars. A master of BBQ, he was considered highly as "King of the Grill".
He leaves to cherish his memories; wife, Vicki King (Benson); sons, Thomas "Denny" King, Milton King Jr., Kevin King and Kenneth King; daughters, Gloria Sockwell, Brenda King, Camisha Avington and Annie Renee Avington; step-daughter, Chandra Avington; step-son, Frederick Avington; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Emma Farley, Dorramae Island and Lucille Bradly; brothers, Rev. LeRoy King, John King and A.D. King; mothers of his children, the late Irene (mother of Brenda, Gloria, Denny & Milton Jr.), Annie Sue Avington (mother of Camisha, Annie Renee, Chandra & Frederick) and Irene (mother of Kevin & Kenneth); a host of nieces & nephews and cousins; dear friends, Erik Howard and James Taylor. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Earlie King Jr., Orange T. King and Niel King; and one grandson.
Celebration of Life Memorial to be announced. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
