Nadia Venesse

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nadia Venesse, who passed away on June 22, 2026. She lived a life marked by extraordinary talent, unwavering independence, and deep devotion to the people she loved.

Above all else, Nadia was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Nicholas Nassar, who was the greatest joy and proudest accomplishment of her life. Her love for him was steadfast, unconditional, and enduring, and the bond they shared was the foundation of everything she did.

She was also a caring and cherished sister whose generosity, wisdom, and quiet strength enriched the lives of her family.

Nadia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Emile and Samia Shihadeh. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Nicholas Nassar; her sister, Salwa (Ray) Bernier; and her brothers, Edward (Margo) Shihadeh and Paul (Krista) Shihadeh. She also leaves behind extended family, dear friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by her presence.

Throughout a distinguished career, Nadia earned the admiration and respect of many as a gifted dialect coach, helping numerous acclaimed Hollywood actors bring authenticity and depth to their performances. Though much of her work took place behind the scenes, her influence lives on in the many productions and performances, world-wide, she helped shape.

A woman of exceptional artistic talent, Nadia expressed her creativity in many forms. She was an accomplished visual artist, an accomplished pianist, and an author whose work reflected her intelligence, imagination, and lifelong appreciation for language and culture. Whether through music, art, or the written word, she sought to inspire beauty and understanding.

Those who knew Nadia will remember her as gracious, compassionate, and deeply caring. She possessed remarkable strength tempered with kindness, and she carried herself with quiet dignity and resilience. Her warmth, wit, generosity, and unwavering spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A favorite memory shared by her nieces, Amber and Michelle, beautifully captures the essence of Nadia:

"Her laugh was truly unforgettable. I always admired the beautiful contradiction in her personality—how she could seem so wonderfully confident, yet timid all at once. Nadia was fierce, independent, and always held her ground. Her adventurous spirit was contagious, and she had such a big personality and a wonderful sense of humor."

These qualities made Nadia unforgettable to everyone who knew her. She embraced life with courage and curiosity, inspired others through her creativity and resilience, and filled every room with warmth, laughter, and unmistakable presence. Her legacy is not only found in her artistic achievements and professional accomplishments, but in the joy, strength, and kindness she shared so generously with family, friends, students, and colleagues.

Nadia requested that her final arrangements be simple and private. In accordance with her wishes, a small private service has been held, and she has been laid to rest in Rockford, Illinois.

Her legacy lives on through her son, her family, the many actors and students she mentored, and the countless people whose lives were touched by her extraordinary gifts, generosity, and grace. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
