Nancy Lee Sandberg

ROCKFORD – Nancy Lee Sandberg (Kohnhorst), age 78, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 23, 2026. Born in Wausau, WI on January 15, 1948 to Kurt & Faye Kohnhorst (Hildebrandt). She retired in 2008 after 20 years of service working at Weyerhaeuser in Rockford. A cat lover at heart, Nancy truly enjoyed spending all day tending her garden, as well as feeding and watching the birds. An avid shopper, she loved adding to her collection of all things "Snoopy" and cherished the many trips to the casino to relish the sights, sounds and people; and maybe a little gambling too. Beloved mother, wife, sister and dear friend, she will remain forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her son, Edmond Tyson Sandberg; partner for 32 years, Ken Rupnow; mother, Faye Kohnhorst; siblings, Pamela Aldrich, Diane LeMay and Richard (Kathy) Kohnhorst; brother-in-law, Ramey Joe Sandberg; nieces and nephews, Shawn, Jason, Jennifer, Amie, Christina and David; 15 in the bunch that called her "Grandma"; as well as many beloved friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Edmond "Smiley" Sandberg; and her father, Kurt Kohnhorst

Services are Private. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
