Ann was born July 23,1953 in Tiptonville, TN to Eddie Smith Sr. & Rachel Mathis where she resided until the young age of 16. In 1969, Ann relocated to Rockford, IL where she completed school and in 1970 met the love of her life, Franklyn Rice, who in 1976 asked Ann for her hand in marriage. Together they were united and began life as one. A dedicated worker at Amberwood Care Center, Ann devoted many years as a laundry aid. She was a people person, the life of any party of all ages and she had a passion for crossword puzzles.

On January 19, 2022 our beloved Ann transitioned to start her new journey from Swedish American Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was a favorite as an aunt to her nieces & nephews, she loved them as if they were her own.

Our Beloved is proceeded from this creation by her husband, Franklin Rice; parents, Rachel Mathis and Eddie Smith Sr.; as well as brothers, George Prather, Raymond, Damon & Emery McKenzie, Eddie Smith Jr., and James Charles Smith.

She leaves behind a tribe to share and continue her memory; sister, Thelma Sanders (Ree); step-children, Steve Moore and Theresa Bryant; a host of nieces & nephews; special friends, Mrs. Mildred, Bunny, Diane & Bay Bay.
