Patrick James "P.J." Walsh

ROCKFORD – Patrick James "P.J." Walsh, age 78, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Friday December 11, 2020. Born in Belvidere on May 9, 1942 to Ervin James & Elizabeth Walsh (Mattingly). A proud family-man and Veteran of the US Army, Patrick had love for gardening, all things John Deere, the Green Bay Packers and telling a good joke. He could fix just about anything and often enjoyed fixing mowers & tractors; and was known for riding his mowers around town. His true pride & joy was his family. Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his children, Penny (late Gary) Knight, Patty Beth (late Jim) Carr, Wendy (KC) Schaible, Robin (Scott) Uphouse; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, special grandchildren, Tabitha (Chris), Sabrina (Kody), Sierra (Rodney), Shawn Pruitt and Dammien Kody Walsh; special great grandchildren, Austin, Allison, Wesley, Ryan, Preston and McKenna; sisters, Kathy & Jackie; brothers, Danny & David; son-in-law, Donnie Gesswein; numerous nieces & nephews; dear friend, Anita Hall; and beloved cats, Stawlks & Goobers. He is predeceased by the love of his life, Teresa; daughter, Michelle "Shelly" Walsh; son, Timmy (Heather) Walsh; brother, Larry Walsh; and his parents.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Saturday December 19, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Silver Hill Pentecostal Church, 4401 20 ^th Street, Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
