Perry Darvele Benjamin

ROCKFORD - Perry Darvele Benjamin, 50, departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 15, 2018, at 5:11pm after a long illness. Perry was born May 30, 1968, in Rockford, IL to Ernest & Yvonne Benjamin, and raised by John & Yvonne Jones. He was the 1st born of 5 siblings. He attended East High School, Rockford, IL and later received his G.E.D from Mott School in Flint, Mi. He served in the United States Navy Reserve until his Honorable Discharge. Perry became a member at Mission of Prayer early 2001, where he married his loving wife the former Kristen Taylor on October 6, 2001. Perry was an avid music lover of all genres and was a talented drummer himself, playing in many gospels groups and bands with family and friends, also for Mission of Prayer.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Free Christian Center, 111 East Oak St. Kankakee IL, on Friday September 7, 2018 at 10:00 am with Rev. Christopher Clark Sr. officiating. Local friends and family can visit with the family during a Celebration of Life service at Mission of Prayer, 614 Lincoln Ave. Rockford, IL on Saturday September 15, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Bertha L. Wooding officiating. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
