Richard R. Ellison

ROCKFORD, IL - Richard R."Dick" Ellison, age 73, of Rockford, Illinois passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, July 18, 2025. He was born March 14, 1952 in Rockford, the son of Marshall K. and Doris M. Ellison. He spent literally his entire life living and working in the greater Rockford area. He graduated from Guilford High School.

After graduating from high school in 1970, Richard spent the next few years exploring professional options, including retail store management and other jobs. He ultimately discovered his preferred "niche" as a truck driver. He was employed as a driver for several years by Todd Transit of Rockford.

Richard was a passionate sports fan. He was especially passionate and vocal about his two favorite pro sports teams, both from Chicago; the White Sox and the Bears.

He was also passionate about his relationship with God and the church. His faith was strong and consistent. As a member of City First Church, he was active in such faith-based initiatives as their Bible Study Program.

He is survived by sisters; Christine (Richard) Estes of Cherry Valley, IL and Barbara Stevens of Great Falls, MT; and brother; Steve (Cathleen) Ellison of Rockford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Doris Ellison; sisters, Sandra and Penny Ellison; and son; Timothy, who was struck down by leukemia in 1987 at the tragically young age of 13 years old.

A Celebration of Life Memorial in honor of Richard is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm. Cremation rites accorded. Private Interment at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockford. Memorials to the Family.
