Robert Melvin Borgen

MORIARTY, NM - Robert Melvin Borgen, age 77, of Moriarty, NM and formerly of Rockford, passed away Saturday April 15, 2017. Born in Sparta, WI on January 10, 1940 to Reuben M. & Leora H. Borgen (Davis). A Veteran of the US Navy, he traveled the world and was stationed in Spain, Sicily, Ethiopia, Greece and England. He loved to buy, sell and trade anything & everything at the Moriarty Flea Market. Robert was proud member of the Lions Club and Legion Riders of New Mexico. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.

Survived by wife, Diana M. Fields; children, Robert (Tracy) Borgen, Sarah (Dan Janssen) Borgen; grandchildren, Ashley & Jaclyn Borgen, Jayne, Melanie & Madelyn Habben; great-granddaughter, Rebecca; nieces & nephews, Kari ( Rick) Hawkins, Sheri (Moe) Chapa, Jon (Lori) Abbott, Laurie (Jim) Keeton, Steven (Lori) Abbott, Brian Borgen; mothers of his children, Joan Hutson and Jennifer Borgen; and dear friends, Mark, Mary, Don , Marsha and Dar. He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Roger Borgen; sister, Victoria Abbott; and beloved dogs, Sadie & Harley.

Graveside Committal Services to be held on Thursday April 20, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, 6202 Charles St., with visitation from 11:00 AM at Arlington Memorial Conference Center until the time of services at 12:00 noon, cousin Boyd Borgen officiating. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. A special thank you to Heartland hospice for their exceptional care.
