Robert Charles Froehlich

WAUWATOSA, WI - Robert Charles "Bob" Froehlich, age 89, of Rockford died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI. Bob was born July 13, 1929 the son of, Ralph and Mildred (Johns) Froehlich. He met Joyce McClamma at First Baptist Church of Rockford in 1950.  They were married in that same church in 1954. Bob and Joyce later became the proud parents of three children and as time went by, welcomed the birth of eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Bob worked on the family farm for about 60 years.  Over the years he also drove a truck for Brentner's trucking and worked as a courier for Glaxo Smith Kline.

Bob loved farming and like many good farmers, could strike up a conversation with almost anyone.  He enjoyed selling sweet corn, and was a hobby beekeeper. Bob was a member of the Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

Bob was a committed husband, loving father, fun grandpa and most importantly, a believer in Christ.  He proclaimed his love for his wife and family and confessed his faith in the Lord even with his final breaths.

Bob always liked the hymn "In the Garden".  The lyrics of that song paint a beautiful picture of walking and talking with our creator in a perfect garden.  That song was played for Bob several times in his last hours. It visibly gave him peace. There can be no doubt that Bob was very much looking forward to a future day when he will be able to walk and talk with God as they survey the crops of a perfect garden.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.  He is survived by his son, Karl (Connie) Froehlich of DeKalb and daughters, Lauzanne (David) Benedict of Knox City, MO and Letha (Steve) Taylor of Milwaukee, WI; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and close-as-family friends Clint (Rose) Wooten of Springfield, TN.

A funeral service will be held at the Christenson Funeral Home (925 3 rd Ave. Rockford, IL 61104) on Saturday, October 27, 2018 beginning at 3:00 PM.  Pastor Michael Hoffman of the Oregon Church of God will officiate. Visitation hours will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of service.   Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "the family of Robert Froehlich", a memorial will be established in his honor.
