ROCKFORD- Robert James Spatz, age 34, passed away February 15, 2017. Born in Rockford to parents R. Russell Spatz and Kim Marcella (Wolfe) Spatz. Robert grew up in Rockford and was employed by Modern Advanced Manufacturing in Rockford as a CNC machinist. He loved the outdoors and working with his hands. He was a Washington Redskins fan and liked extreme sports. He loved hanging out with his family and friends. He recently started target shooting with his dad. Helping others brought him great joy. Beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend, he will be missed and remembered in our hearts forever.
He is survived by daughter, Morgyn Brianna Spatz; step-daughters, Laila & Lydia VonHaden; parents, Kim & Russ; mother-in-law, De Mairson; brother, R. Eric (Danielle) Spatz; grandparents, Richard (Ellen) Spatz and Richard (Norma) Wolfe; brothers & sister-in-law, Jeff Mairson, USMC Karen (Jeff) Mabry; nieces & nephews, Lilly, Charley, Kayla and Charis; aunts & uncles, Kevin & Sandy Wolfe, Kent Wolfe, Kelly & Warren Propst, and Pam Spatz; cousins, Kyle (Sheena), Megan (Michael), Micah, Christopher, Stephanie, Nash, Kira, Seth, and Alia (Jericho); great uncle to Amelia, Madilyn, Reese, Abigail, and Evelyn; longest & closest friend to Matt Cramer. He is predeceased by wife, Courtney Lyn (January 3, 2017); uncle, James A. Spatz; and aunt Lisa.
Baptized at the age of 11, he called Central Christian Church his home. A Celebration Homecoming will be held at Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Road in Rockford on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 5:00 pm with visitation from 3:30 until time of service. As per Robert's wishes, he was cremated. Our thanks to Christenson Funeral Home for assisting the family.
