Ronald Wesley Engelkes

ROCKFORD – Ronald Wesley Engelkes, age 81, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Thursday August 3, 2017. Born April 15, 1936 in White Rock Township, IL to William & Jennie Engelkes (Hayenga). He married Andrea Morales on June 16, 2005 in Branson, MO. Ron worked as a Test Technician for UTC/Hamilton Sundstrand for 51 years. A veteran of the US Army, he served on the Winnebago County Board and coached girls & boys softball at Ken-Rock. He enjoyed reading, watching westerns, bird-watching and pointing out the beautiful flowers in his back yard. Ron loved to follow college fast-pitch softball, but most of all he enjoyed rooting for the Green Bay Packers! Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea Engelkes (Morales); sons, Michael (Kathleen) Engelkes of Winnebago, IL and Brian (Lori) Engelkes of Bryant, AR; daughter, Rhonda (Dan Troutt) Engelkes-Troutt of Poplar Grove, IL; and step-daughter; Luisa (fiance Michael P) Morrell of Rock Falls, IL; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.He is predeceased by his parents, William & Jennie Engelkes; step-mother, Dahneen Engelkes; and sister, Wilma Jean (Benson) Engelkes.

Funeral services to be held on Tuesday August 8, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd., Belvidere, with visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of services at noon. Private interment at White Rock Cemetery. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the family.
