Ronald James Griffen

MACHESNEY PARK – Ronald James Griffen, age 86, of Machesney Park passed away Tuesday September 28, 2020. Born in Rockford on April 29, 1934 to William & Eleanor Griffen (Bloomquist). A proud and active member of Firstborn Ministries, Ron served as Usher, Bus Ministry and Board Member. He proudly served his county in the US Air Force. Beloved husband, brother, uncle and dear friend, he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Careleen "Carrie" Mae Griffen (Leadbetter); sister, Margaret (Keith) Townsend of Machesney Park; sister-in-law, Marlean (late Don) Simpson; and several nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Earl (Madelyn) Griffen and Ralph (Carol) Griffen.

Funeral Services held Saturday October 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Firstborn Ministries, 8213 N Alpine Rd, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Interment and military honors held Monday October 5, 2020 at 9:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln Nation Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
