ROCKFORD – Ryan D. Schott, age 40, of Rockford and formerly of Monroe Center and Sycamore, passed away Saturday July 28, 2018. Born in Rockford on July 15, 1978 to Morris A. & Kathleen M. Schott (Scott-Schmertman). A successful businessman and painter, Ryan owned & operated his own painting company for 14 years; 1 Schott Painting. Beloved son and proud father. Family was everything to him. An intelligent soul. He was an avid motorcyclist and Guns N' Roses #1 fan and Chicago Bears fan. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a hand or give a huge bear hug. A dear friend to all who knew him. He will remain in our hearts forever. Ride free and easy brother.
He is survived by his children; Jordon & Kayla, his mother; Kathleen (Don) Anderson, brother; Brian Schott, honorary sister: Kelly Johnson, loving mother of his children, Jennifer Highland; grandfather; Paul (Florence) Schmertman, aunt; Sheila (Chuck) Noel, cousins; Lisa (Dave) McFerrin, Zack (Cindy) Noel, Cory Kuehne, Jolene Taylor and Tiffany (Ryan) Yates. Numerous nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special family members and friends. He is predeceased by his father and best friend; Morris A. Schott, grandmother; Joyce Schmertman, uncle; Dave Schmertman, and his beloved dog; Tekillya.
Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Monroe Center Community Church, 102 West St., Monroe Center, IL. Cremation rites accorded. internment at Monroe Center Cemetery. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
